CALLING
PORN ACTORS
How are your relationships? How do you navigate these relationships working in porn? What support systems do you rely on? Would you like to help reduce stigma around porn?
If you are a female porn actor and these questions speak to you, there is an opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking research study. Your contribution can lead to change.

ABOUT THE STUDY
This study explores the relationships of female porn actors who have worked in ethical porn, aiming to understand what it's like to maintain relationships alongside this unique line of work. By participating, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences and insights, offering valuable perspectives on an often misunderstood industry and a group that is largely underrepresented in research.
Your voice is crucial in shaping a more inclusive understanding of the relational experiences of women in porn, providing insights that can help combat the significant stigma surrounding adult entertainment. Stigma remains a major issue, and accessible counselling support for porn actors is often limited. This study aims to inform healthcare, mental health services, law enforcement, employers, and educators, promoting better understanding, flexibility, and care for both porn actors and those who engage with them.
Ultimately, your participation will contribute to a more informed and fair understanding of life in and outside of consensual adult entertainment - potentially challenging stereotypes, breaking down stigma, and promoting constructive discussions on the well-being of those in the industry.

This study focuses on cisgender female porn actors to ensure consistency and reliability in the findings as our sample has to be small. We understand and value the experiences of other gender identities, but including them here would broaden the focus too much. For example, trans and cisgender porn actors will have had different sexual, physiological and social life histories, which could make the study less focused, affecting the results. By starting with cisgender female actors we are laying a foundation for future research that will explore and compare the experiences of other groups.
We are looking for participants that have worked in production that they themselves consider to be ethical. You may also have worked with an array of companies or producers who are not, but some experience with your defined idea of ethical production is essential. If you need some information to help decide what's ethical have a look here.
We are looking for participants between 25-45. This covers the average age for porn actors and then some. We felt this was a good middle ground to ensure the study is available to as many potential participants as possible. This also increases the chances of working with participants who have had longer experience in the industry. As age isn't a critical variable in the study, there isn't much else to it!
Your experiences can shape urgent research in an underrepresented field. While we can't offer payment, your contribution will be key in advancing understanding and influencing future studies. By sharing your story, you’ll help drive positive change within the industry and beyond. We aim to make the conversation smooth and efficient and need just one hour of your time!
Whether it be friends, family, colleagues or even yourself. We want to understand what these relationships mean to you. This means being as open and honest as possible. Don't worry it's just an informal chat and we'll bring some questions to help guide us. Most importantly - everything will remain confidential. The whole time.
